SimPlus is to develop an anchorage planning tool for Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), Singapore, based on its AnchorageView system. The project is the first step towards efficient sea space planning for the forecasted significant increase in vessel traffic calling on Singapore.
In addition to the land space crunch, the island city of Singapore is also limited in its port waters. It is thus critical that the sea space be partitioned effectively for anchorage, navigation and other purposes, keeping in mind the increase in maritime trade and the consolidation of Singapore’s position as an international maritime centre. This initiative by MPA aims to assess the current anchorage usage and forecast space requirement for the future.
MPA and SimPlus further strengthen their ties with the announcement of this new anchorage planning study. SimPlus will conduct this study for the Port Master’s division of MPA, which is led by Director Capt. M.A. Segar.
