SimPlus is to quantitatively compare the performance of a few layouts using its Cargo Terminal Simulation (CTS) system after customizing it for PSA operations.
PSA International, running several dozens of overseas ports, deals with varied operating practices, operations concepts, traffic mix etc. Given the many different layouts in use at their terminal, PSA is interested in a systematic assessment of the various layouts to determine which performs better in terms of the space usage and productivity achieved by the terminal.
Stuti Nautiyal, a Director of SimPlus feels that “With this new project, we are happy to reinforce our relationship with PSA. Simulation will be a useful tool to methodically evaluate the different layouts….. Having earlier modeled PSA’s operations, this now simplifies the process of emulating PSA practices. For this purpose, the existing PSA model will be further customized so as to zoom into the area of interest, i.e. the yard block operations”
